Hii everyone,
Today i want to talk about surprises.
Everyone has experienced it, you buy a book, with a weird cover, a vague description and no expectations. It seems odd, maybe a bit weird and DEFINETELY seems something you would never read.
But you do give it a chance, and you open it. From the first page on you are drawn into the story, the characters are ones you start to love and hold onto, the storyline is nothing like you expected it to be and YOU LOVE IT.
I experienced this too, a lot even. But one of my biggest surprise-books was Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe. Some of you might know this book is one of my favorites, but at first i did not think this would be a good book. Sure, the cover looks awsome, but in some way i found it a bit unprofessional looking, also i did not know this was an LGBT story until i recieved the book in mail, and i'd never read anything like it. but when i opened it the writing style Benjamin uses sucked me in. it was easy written, had an amazing moral and the characters became my best friends in the days i was reading the book. If you would like to know more about the book itself, you can find it in the menu under ''REVIEWS''
But not all surprises are good ones, like when i read Finding Audrey. I expected so SO much of this book. The idea of this story about a girl, too scared to leave the house, meeting a boy who made her go out again, seemed so amazing!........but it was not. The idea of this story was indeed good, but the rest of it was so disapointing, i did not like it at all! the style wasn't great, the story was way too less about the girl and it just didn't fit me. I was so sad that it was not as i had imagined, i'm still a bit down about it :( but well, that's the risk of being a reader isn't it? Sometimes our minds is better at making the stories than anyone else can be :D
i'm sure you all have experienced this too. what were books that surprised you? let me know!
All the love,
-E
